Elections Office & Early Voting Closure Notice 03/16/2026

Due to inclement weather, the Office of Elections and early voting will close at 12:00 p.m. today (March 16).

If you have an urgent election-related matter, please email vote@rva.gov. Our office will try to respond to emails as available. The office is expected to reopen on Tuesday, March 17 at 8:30 a.m.

Updates will be posted on this website if conditions change.

Public Notice: Logic & Accuracy Testing | Office of Elections

The Richmond Office of Elections will conduct Logic & Accuracy (L&A) testing of voting equipment in preparation for the upcoming election.

Logic & Accuracy testing is a public process used to verify that voting equipment is properly programmed and accurately records and tabulates votes as expected before ballots are cast.

Public Notice: Special Election

April 21, 2026 – Special Election (Statewide Constitutional Amendment) - Updated 03/11/26

A Special Election will be held on Tuesday, April 21, 2026, for a proposed statewide constitutional amendment.

Eligible voters are encouraged to review the amendment and be aware of the following deadlines:

Key Dates

  • March 6 – April 18, 2026 – Early voting period

  • April 10, 2026 – Deadline to apply for a ballot by mail (request must be received by 5:00 p.m.)

  • April 12, 2026 - Sunday Voting 1:00p.m.-5:00p.m.

  • April 14, 2026 – Voter registration deadline

Early voting begins March 6 at the Office of Elections. Early voting at City Hall and Hickory Hill locations begins April 6.

Important Voting Location Updates for the April 21, 2026 Special Election

The Richmond Office of Elections would like to inform voters of the following polling place updates for the April 21, 2026 Special Election:

  • Precinct 307 voters will vote at Precinct 302 (MAPS Global) polling location for this election.

  • Precinct 206 voters will vote at Precinct 214 (University Student Commons) polling location for this election.

These changes apply only to the April 21, 2026 Special Election.

Voters are encouraged to confirm their voter registration and polling location by visiting the Virginia Department of Elections website or by contacting the Richmond Office of Elections.
