Business Solutions is OCWB’s employer-facing team, responsible for cultivating relationships with regional and local employers to connect them with job-ready residents. By understanding employer needs and industry trends, the team ensures that workforce efforts are aligned with current labor market demands, thereby creating direct pipelines to employment opportunities.
The Business Solutions team employs a Sector-Based approach that balances immediate job placement—through job fairs, on-site recruitment, and job matching—with long-term career development through pre-employment training.
Drawing on data and frameworks from the City of Richmond’s Economic Development Office, Greater Richmond Partnership, Virginia Economic Development Partnership, Virginia Works, and the Virginia Office of Education Economics, OCWB’s 2022–2023 research identified five consistently high-opportunity sectors: Construction, Healthcare, Manufacturing, Information Technology, and Energy (including Green Energy).
