Richmond Police Department Internship Program
The Richmond Police Department provides an exceptional learning opportunity for those interested in participating in our internship program. Interns selected will work as non-paid, non-sworn civilians for the Richmond Police Department. Interns will be rotated around various departments within the police department during their internship to maximize their learning experience.

Application Requirements:
- Complete Application
- Personal Resume attached to the application
- Personal Essay of between 500-750 words attached to application, answering the following questions:
- Why are you interested in an RPD internship?
- What can you offer the RPD as an intern?
- What do you expect to learn from your internship?
Timeline:
For FALL semester (September to December)
- Application due by June 1
- Notification of acceptance by August 1
For SPRING semester (January to May)
- Application due by October 15
- Notification of acceptance by December 15
For SUMMER semester (May to August)
- Application due by March 1
- Notification of acceptance by May 1
Once both the RPD Internship Application and Background Questionnaire are completed, they can be submitted in-person to the Information Desk on the first floor at the Richmond Police Headquarters Building located at 200 W. Grace St., Richmond, VA 23220 or emailed to richmondpolicerec@rva.gov.
