Neighborhood Climate Resilience Grant Program

The Office of Sustainability is now accepting applications for the Neighborhood Climate Resilience Grant Program which will support the work of non-profit organizations & partners in Richmond on the frontlines of climate change throughout the City of Richmond. The Neighborhood Climate Resilience Grant embodies both the spirit of the newly adopted RVAgreen 2050 Climate Equity Action Plan 2030, Mayor Stoney’s Equity agenda, and is funded through the federal American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA). The grant will support the implementation of equity-centered, neighborhood-based planning and climate resilience project implementation here in the City of Richmond.  

To be eligible, organizations must: 

  • be either a 501(c)(3) or 501(c)(19) organization 

  • Provides services to the residents and neighbors of the City of Richmond in the areas of climate change, climate action, and climate resilience    

  • Show clear connection to their work and the RVAgreen 2050 Climate Equity Action Plan  

Eligible cost areas include but are not limited to job and workforce training for climate resilience; parks, green spaces, recreational facilities, sidewalks, pedestrian safety features like crosswalks, neighborhood cleanups, and other projects to revitalize public spaces; minor facility updates; supporting food banks and other facilities primarily dedicated to addressing food insecurity; rehabilitation, renovation, remediation, cleanup of conversations of vacant or abandoned properties. There is no award ceiling or floor to this opportunity.  

Applications and relevant attachments are asked to be sent by email to ncrgrantprogram@rva.gov by August 4, 2023. Applications received after August 4th will still be accepted but reviewed after November 2023. The Office of Sustainability may request additional information after reviewing your application.
